Gedi Ruins

History Forest Swahili

Gedi is a Swahili ghost city hidden in the coastal forest between Malindi and Watamu. Built around the 13th century, it was mysteriously abandoned in the 17th - no one knows why. Walking among the remains of mosques, royal palaces and dwellings, while colobus monkeys leap between the trees, is a matchless experience.
